Ali-obama-web-ok

Editor's Note:
The Tariq Ali we used to know was a leftist.... nonetheless when he opens his mouth he does make some sense on what had happened, what outcome it produces and what should be done about it.

As to the root cause of the problem .. is something that we do differs greatly.

In a shock announcement last week, 40-year-old regent Tengku Muhammad Faris Petra -- who had been locked in a power struggle with his younger brother -- was appointed as the new royal ruler.

Their 60-year-old father Tuanku Ismail Petra was ousted via an amendment to the state constitution which states the sultan shall cease to be the ruler if he is incapacitated for a period of more than one year

Politically motivated - to Arrest Freedom Fighters!

Poland 'to arrest' Chechen terror suspect on Russia's Most Wanted list.

RussiaToday | September 15, 2010 - Poland has issued an order to detain an ethnic Chechen wanted by Russia on terrorism charges. Ahmed Zakayev currently lives in Britain, where he has been granted political asylum. He is expected to arrive in Poland on Thursday to take part in an international Chechen congress near the capital Warsaw.

Editor's Note: "War on terror" had given another blanket warrant to harass and arrest anyone (especially) Muslims - even if he is known as a freedom fighter to fellow countrymen, fighting to free his motherland from colonialism. We had seen to many oppressive measures in recent years under the guise of "war against terror" - collective punishment in case of Afghanistan and Gaza. With this act the powers to be [the Governments & Administrations(US) involved] had loss objectivity and turned into a massive monstrous Global Pharaohnic oppressive machine.

VoA: Digital Frontiers - The Tweet That Shook The World?

VOAvideo | September 14, 2010 - Armed with little more than a flammable message, pastor Terry Jones set the Internet on fire recently when he announced he planned to burn copies of the Quran at his Florida church. He now says he doesn't intend to follow through on his threat, but damage has already been done.

With few followers and fewer resources, Jones was able to seize the world stage in part through the use of social media.

Which leaves some asking: If Jones can do it, who and what else may be next?

Kelantan tussle: Is Tengku Temenggong ignorant or lawless.

Acting Sultan Tengku Faris and Tengku Temenggong
Kelantan Insider  |  SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2010

VIDEO Utusan Malaysia, Kosmo! and Sinar Harian’s reports dated August 25th 2010 which quoted the Tengku Temenggong of Kelantan as saying that Tuanku Ismail Petra is now fit to rule and is now resuming His duties as a Ruler (as, according to the Tengku Temenggong of Kelantan, a ruler needs not to be physically present to rule) are hereby referred to. (see video inside)

First of all, the Tengku Temenggong of Kelantan needs to be told (if he is ignorant) or reminded (if he is lawless) of Article VI of Laws of The Constitution of Kelantan (Second Part) which stipulates that “No one person shall succeed to the Throne and Sovereignty of Kelantan unless his succession has been confirmed by the Council of Succession” (its Malay translation being “Tidaklah boleh siapa-siapa pun menaiki Takhta dan Kerajaan Kelantan melainkan kenaikannya itu disahkan oleh Majlis Perajaan Negeri”).

Bollywood new movie: 'Tere Bin Laden'

Looking at a satirical spin on the US-led 'war on terror' we ask if comedy can be used to fight violence.

Could laughter be the next weapon in the war against terrorism? It seems to be working in India, where a satirical film about a fake Osama bin Laden tape has become an unexpected success this year.

Tere Bin Laden portrays the media and the US' so-called war on terror from the perspective of a struggling Pakistani journalist named Ali.

When Ali dupes an Osama bin Laden lookalike into starring in a fake al-Qaeda video, US and Pakistani officials embark on an international manhunt that is as telling as it is entertaining.
In Pakistan, the movie was banned for fear that a comedic portrayal of bin Laden would provoke further terrorist attacks in the region.

On Monday's Riz Khan we ask: Is there room for humour in the war against terrorism?

Riz speaks to Tere Bin Laden star and Pakistani pop sensation Ali Zafar, who is the first Pakistani to play a leading role in a Bollywood movie. Also joining the programme is Abhishek Sharma, who wrote and directed the film.

record rise in home solar panels fitted

August sees record rise in UK home solar panels fitted

Solar panels are generating both electricity and money for homeowners

Solar panelsA record number of homeowners had solar panels installed this month, according to energy regulator Ofgem.

The devices have been fitted to 2,257 homes so far during August, up from 1,700 in July and 1,400 in June.

More than 6,688 homes have had solar panels fitted since April, when the government's scheme to reward people who generate their own energy altered.

The feed-in tariff system now enables homeowners to receive 41.3p for every unit of energy they generate.

This is regardless of whether they use the energy or sell it back to the National Grid.

It's dedicated to the political party and Shi'ite militia Hezbollah, which controls large swaths of southern Lebanon. Hezbollah fought a month-long war with Israel in 2006, firing deadly rockets at Israeli towns and cities. The museum opened three months ago and already has attracted more than 300,000 visitors. Some critics, though, say it's pure propaganda.

After-school clubs ....

Head of UK policy for the charity, Sally Copley, said: "Children who do after-school activities have more confidence, see the world in different ways, have a stronger sense of identity - and this ultimately translates into doing better in exams and getting a better job.
"We're particularly concerned poorer children are missing out as a result."

Najib's incomprehensible acronyms on the unsuspecting public?

NEM.jpg(Reuters) Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak says he has embarked on a series of radical economic reforms. In reality it feels as if he has unleashed a barrage of incomprehensible acronyms on the unsuspecting public of this Southeast Asian nation.

The charge for economic reform is being led by the snappily named PEMANDU. As well as being the Malay word for “driver” it stands for the government’s Performance Management and Delivery Unit.

PEMANDU is in charge of formulating and implementing NKRAs (National Key Result Areas), MKRAs (Ministerial Key Result Areas) and getting “Big Results Fast”, according to its website, although it singularly failed to win political backing for a radical revamp of Malaysia’s costly subsidy regime.

Malaysia to beware...

Dangers of Industrial Farming & Food : Largest Egg Recall in US History!

The largest egg recall in US history is bringing renewed attention to the dangers of factory farming and to growing consolidation in the industries responsible for the food many Americans eat. Over half a billion eggs have been ordered off US shelves in the past two weeks following an outbreak of salmonella in the Midwest. Nearly 1,300 cases of people sickened by the eggs have been reported. Despite the size of the recall, responsibility falls on just two factory farms: Hillandale Farms and Wright County Egg, both from Iowa.
