Unschooling? the new class of learning!

Many parents are taking their children out of the formal school system in favour of a freer way of learning.

It is not home schooling, where the standard curriculum is taught by parents or tutors. They call it unschooling, where youngsters are encouraged to explore the things they want to learn about or for which they have a specific talent.

A "Messiah" of innocent deaths & total destruction?

Hagee calls Netanyahu Messiah

Uploaded by infolivetvenglish on Mar 19, 2012 - American Evangelical pastor John Hagee - who heads the largest pro-Israel lobby group in the United States - half jokingly compared Benjamin Netanyahu to the Messiah on Sunday night, as he waited for the delayed prime minister to arrive at a Jerusalem hotel. As Hagee introduced Netanyahu when he finally arrived the comparison with the Messiah no longer seemed so far-fetched. Netanyahu's speech was the high point of the conference of Christians United for Israel, which recently reached one million members. The conference in Jerusalem drew hundreds of people, primarily Americans.

The first commercial solar power plant in the world that can generate electricity even without sunshine was inaugurated in October.
Located in the Spanish region of Andalusia, the Gemasolar plant is a 19.9MW facility that generates electricity using over 2,600 mirrors spread across 1.85 km2 that concentrate the sun's rays on to a giant receiver at the centre of the plant. The rays heat liquid salt to generate hot, pressurised steam which drives turbines.
The salt storage capacity allows the plant to supply energy to the grid for up to 15 hours when there is no sunshine, for instance at night and during cloudy periods.
Gemasolar is the flagship project of Torresol Energy - a joint venture between Spanish engineering group Senar and Masdar, the Abu Dhabi government-owned renewable energy development company. This state-of-the-art project was supported with an €80 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

California jumps on driverless car bandwagon.

State lawmakers plan to introduce legislation today that will pave the way for autonomous cars to be driven and tested legally on California public roads, according to an article in The San Francisco Chronicle.

Not coincidentally, today marks the first day that companies can apply for a permit to test robotic vehicles openly on Nevada roads. The robotic car bill, sponsored by Senator Alex Padilla of Pacoima, Calif. would task the California Highway Patrol with developing rules and regulations for testing driverless cars on public roads by companies and, eventually, consumers.

California isn't alone in the race to play catch up to Nevada's futuristic transportation legislation. Other states, such as Oklahoma, Hawaii, and Florida, are also considering rules that will allow autonomous cars on state roads. California's proposed plan will be modeled after Nevada's regulations, which lets companies apply for a permit to test a vehicle after it has clocked 10,000 miles on private tracks or other roads under various conditions. While Google's self-driving Prius have traveled more than 200,000 miles on their own, they've never encountered snow, according to the article.
