Nigeria sliding into a "Fail State"

Nigeria & Malaysia:

Nigeria, officially the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Independence - declared and recognized on 1 October 1960.

In US Foreign Policy Failed State Index: 2007 ranked 17, 2010 ranked 14.

Based on a 2009 World Religious survey (Mapping out the Global Muslim Population) 50.4% of Nigeria's population were Muslims,48.2% were Christian , and followers of other religions were 1.4%.

Nigeria is the 12th largest producer of petroleum in the world and the 8th largest exporter, and has the 10th largest proven reserves.

Nigeria fighters threaten return Vid 1

AlJazeeraEnglish | February 15, 2010 - The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (Mend), has threatened to take up arms again, saying the Nigerian government has not stuck to its side of a ceasefire agreement.

The group's fighters laid down their weapons as part of a government-led amnesty deal in return for a promise of cash and jobs.

But with the president out of the country for medical treatment the deal has virtually collapsed.

He's thought to be one of the main leaders of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Deltao (MEND).

The group has claimed responsibilty for the attack which killed 12 people, and has threatened more.
