Google Fined Over $160M in India Over Market Dominance

 


Google was fined more than $160 million by India's antitrust watchdog after the company was found to be abusing its commanding position in the local smartphone market.

The Competition Commission of India said Google configured its mobile Android platform to unlawfully disadvantage popular apps made by other developers.

The Android mobile operating system runs on 95 percent of all India's smartphones, according to researchers.
