Turkey does not intend to report to the European Union for participating in the SCO summit, Erdogan said.
Earlier, a deputy from the Green faction in the Bundestag, Jurgen Trittin, said that Turkey's desire to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization "should not remain unanswered" by the EU and NATO.
Erdogan recalled that the EU has been holding back Turkey's entry into its ranks for more than half a century.
"The European Union had restrained us for 52 years, will not allow us to approach it, and then ask: "Why did he meet with this country, why did he meet with another?" I will negotiate. We are not accountable to the European Union at the moment," Erdogan said.
Earlier, the Turkish president announced Ankara's desire to become a member of the SCO.
